vortex
03:57
|
|||
we come and go, we come and then we go.
with all we know, we come and then we go.
we come and then we go.
a younger you and then an older you
are passing through the smoke and turning into,
into another you.
here is the vortex, the warp in your side,
juniper burns with a slow flame.
go touch a leaf, breathe deep and touch a stone,
breathe out and pray, you'll never be alone.
you'll never be alone.
here is the vortex, the warp in your side,
juniper burns with a slow flame.
the west is black, the north is red, south is white, east yellow,
the fifth above, the sixth below, seventh turns and so it goes.
we come and go.

never know
01:58
|
|||
out here on the street
you never take the time
to stop and look at me
but lately i don’t mind
because like everyone else
you keep yourself to yourself
and so you’ve got no idea
just how long i’ve been standing here.
I bet you’ll never know.
I know there’s someone new
chasing you around
but there’s nothing I can do
when I’m stuck here in the ground
and just like everyone else
I keep myself to myself
and so you’ve got no idea
just how long i’ve been standing here.
I bet you’ll never know?

sun is god
02:47
|
|||
cherry knows the earth is god
and we’re a layer of;
tows me round the ground she’s trod,
and over the skin she’s dropped.
stoops to share the dirt and sinks
into a dreamless sleep;
finds herself a mess of things
down in the soil’s keep.
cherry knows that water is god
and we’re a mirror of;
harvests dew and drop by drop
covers me toe to top.
dozy beau of field and bog
soaks in the day’s demise;
lays her ripened fruit to rot
and waits for her sap to rise.
and come the morning sun is god
and we’re a shadow of
and cherry-cherry leaves to the wind;
seems to begin again.
and so only cherry knows
how earth is god and water is god and sun,
cherry knows the sun is god.

anchor in hope
07:25
|
|||
each evening's close as all things fall that once did rise
an old boy stows what once was wrecked between the tides.
a golden chain that once was bound does loose its grip
imparting stains across the sky above the ship.
we anchor in good hope and wait boys.
we anchor in good hope and wait boys.
and what once was troubled may rest and be done
though of meat and drink and money we've none.
through pitch and swell all will be well and so to sleep.

why wait
03:16
|
|||
why wait, why wait, why wait so late?
why do quiet friends insist on standing straight,
and why must they wait?
why be, why be, why be only
stuck fast in the mud with all the world to see?
why would you be…?
meet you at your place
and never at mine,
you’re not one for talking
but I don’t mind.
why stay, why stay, why stay always?
standing round and staring at the walls all day,
why would you stay?
meet you at your place
and never at mine,
you’re not one for talking
but I don’t mind.
meet you at your place
and never at mine.
how long will you wait?
